Historical evolution

At the beginning of its establishment

In 1889, that is, November 23, the 15th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty before the lunar calendar, Feng junjingqian, Ouyang Junkang, Yu jundekuan, Liao jundeshan and Li junjiliang prepared to start the class.

In 1889, the school was initially named "Peizheng academy" and started with a bungalow in Dezheng street of Guangzhou at a monthly rent of 4.5 yuan. In 1889, there were 44 students, two full-time teachers and five part-time teachers, with Feng Jingqian as the prime minister.

In 1890, it was relocated to Datang street because of its small size. At the same time, more than 700 yuan of donations were made from the mainland and overseas. In addition to the annual expenditure, there was still a surplus. We continued to collect donations from Chinese and foreign Catholics in order to buy land to build the school.

In 1891, he moved to yahetang.

In 1892, the donation increased slightly, and the surplus was a little abundant. That is to say, 400 Liang bought a cable shop in about seven Zhuguang buildings as a school building.

In 1893, a loan was made to rebuild the school building in zhuguangli, which was renamed "Peizheng shushushu". After that, he received a donation from pastor Liu Fu of the West Indian church to repay the debt.

In 1905, the Qing government abolished the imperial examination and changed the school into a school. At this time, the source of economic resources was in a desperate situation, so it was suspended.

In 1906, the Catholics raised more than 3000 yuan to rent two houses in zhefen street as school buildings and named them "Yangcheng Peizheng normal school". Liao zhuo'an was the director of the school to train teachers. At that time, there were 50 students.

Perfect period

In 1907, with more than 22000 yuan, Dongshan bought land to build a new school.

In 1908, Peizheng was transferred to the Baptist Association of Guangdong and Guangxi, and the new school was completed as a "white classroom".

In 1909, the "first dormitory" was built, which cost too much and got into trouble again.

In 1912, when the Republic of China was founded, the school was renamed "Peizheng school".

In 1915, as the number of students increased, the "first dormitory" continued to expand to the right and was heavily in debt. Later, the "Peizheng Maintenance Association" was formed by Zhang lichai, Yang Haifeng, and Zhang Xinji to collect money from the Catholics to relieve their urgent need.

In 1916, the secondary school department was added.

In 1918, the number of students doubled. A temporary sunflower shed was built as a classroom, and donations were raised to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the school. "Wang Guangchang's dormitory" and "Chen Guangqing's memorial dining hall" were built successively. At the same time, "Peikun girls' school" was established one after another.

In 1922, "Peikun women's school" was renamed "Peizheng women's school". He took over peidaomeng school and changed it into Peizheng national school.

In 1928, the school was approved to file a case and changed its name to "private Guangzhou Peizheng middle school".

In 1929, the 40th anniversary of the founding of the University, the school decided to build the "American overseas Chinese Memorial Hall", which opened on the occasion of the anniversary. The alumni association was changed to "Peizheng Alumni Association".

In 1930, the "first dormitory" was rebuilt as "Australian Overseas Chinese Memorial dormitory". The "South Building" and "North Building" teachers' dormitories were completed, and the "Xiguan Peizheng branch" was founded in the same year.

In 1933, the Hong Kong Branch was founded in Ho Man Tin, Kowloon.

In 1937, when the Lugouqiao Incident broke out, president Huang Qiming led his students to move to Heshan City. The next year, he opened the Macao branch and rented Lujia garden as the school site.

In the summer of 1942, "Peizheng Peidao United middle school" was set up in Pingshi, northern Guangdong and Guilin, Guangxi.
