SOHO China's Galaxy SOHO is located in a rare large plot in the inner city of Beijing. This is a large-scale comprehensive project with an area of more than 50000 square meters, a total construction area of 330000 square meters, and a commercial office. Galaxy SOHO uses a number of advanced technologies of green buildings, such as high-performance curtain wall system, sunlight collection, 100% underground parking, sewage recycling, efficient heating and air conditioning system, CFC free refrigeration mode and high-quality building automation system.

Location overview
Galaxy SOHO
Located in the southwest corner of Chaoyang Gate Bridge, East 2nd Ring Road, it has a total construction area of more than 330000 square meters, including 166000 square meters of office buildings and 86000 square meters of commercial area. The new work and leisure space makes the connection between the project and the surrounding hub perfect. The Central Avenue and the underground shopping mall, which run through the north and south of the complex, are connected with the SOHO (phase I and phase II) of Chaoyang Gate and the entrance and exit of the subway station to the north. At the same time, they are adjacent to the Ministry of foreign affairs building through the overpass across the East 2nd Ring Road to the East.
SOHO China acquired the galaxy SOHO block in May 2008. Subsequently, SOHO China commissioned Zaha Hadid Architects, who won the Pritzker Architecture Award, to take the lead in the design. The project will become a landmark in the city center of Beijing, which will have a huge impact on the skyline of Beijing. The project is planned to start construction at the end of 2009 and be officially completed and put into use in December 2012.
building structure
This moving and beautiful complex not only creates a flowing and organic interior space, but also forms a striking landmark architectural landscape on the adjacent East 2nd Ring Road. One of the themes of the design is to learn from the ideas of Chinese courtyards and create an inner world. At the same time, it is a completely 21st century building: it is no longer a rigid rectangular block and the space between blocks, but a continuous and coevolutionary form and continuous movement of internal streamline are created through the mutual coalescence, fusion, separation of plastic and round volumes and reconnection through the stretched flyover.
In terms of architectural design strategy, the project creates a spectacular whole through the integration of individual buildings. Each building has its own atrium and traffic core, which are integrated at different levels to create rich and flowing space scenery and outdoor platform. The complex displacement of platforms and the involvement of different levels in each other's perspectives create a surrounding and fascinating environment. Architecture is unfolded in different levels and directions from the bottom to the top, so it is a 360 degree architectural world with no corners and no unsmooth transition.
Inspired by nature, the appearance of the building shows the continuous flow of deep space. Hundreds of meters of landscape constitute a far-reaching, all-round view. Visitors can look up or look forward to find the next goal and direction through the 100 meter long space. The key strategy here is the mobility and guidance of space. When approaching the building, visitors will observe the game of light and shadow, the conversion of open space and closed space. The design, construction and use of this project will follow the LEED CS standard of the United States, which is energy saving and environmental protection.
Business Overview
The atrium inside each building is the vertical axis of traffic, providing visitors with an easy to identify positioning point. At the same time, the mainstream line of commerce also expands around it, which can not only go to the sunken commercial part, but also enter the commercial space around the atrium. These elegant indoor spaces are still based on the curve logic of continuous flow, which visually connects the office space and commercial entertainment space, and communicates the indoor and outdoor space with the introduction of natural light. As a landmark building, Galaxy SOHO brings a gorgeous life to all the citizens who work and consume here.
When we first conceived this project, the huge scale of Beijing became an interesting problem for us, because Beijing is a vast city, and sometimes it doesn't fit in well with the individuals in it. In order to make the complex attractive, we split it into four tower shaped shapes. However, when we observe it on the Second Ring Road, we can still experience the "grand and magnificent" momentum. We hope that the four towers can be connected with each other in a dynamic way. This idea has been realized through many bridges and attractive shapes. We hope that people will finally get a sense of excitement immersed in the 360 degree architectural world.
