Fuzhou is the birthplace and hometown of Lin Zexu. He spent a considerable part of his life in Fuzhou, leaving many relics. Lin Zexu's birthplace is located in the memorial hall of Lin Zexu's birthplace at No.19 Zhongshan Road, Fuzhou City. It is one of the places where Lin Zexu was born, lived and studied as a child. It was listed as a municipal cultural relic protection unit in 1997. On June 26, 2000, Fuzhou Municipal People's government opened the "Fuzhou anti drug education base" in the museum.

Life of Lin Zexu

Destructed opium and the first Opium War against British aggression were the main achievements of Lin Zexu's patriotic and outstanding national hero in modern China. Lin Zexu's thought and practice in the Opium War represented the most progressive trend in the history at that time and had a profound impact on the development of modern Chinese society. At the same time, he made great contributions to the rectification of water transport, coastal defense construction, water conservancy construction and flood relief. Because of this, the International Astronomical Union named the asteroid (International permanent number 7145) discovered by Beijing Observatory on June 7, 1996 as "Lin Zexu". It is rare in China to name asteroids after historical celebrities.

Lin Zexu was born on July 26, 1785 (August 30, 1785) in the family of a lower class intellectual in Houguan, Fujian Province (now Gulou District, Fuzhou City). He went through the "right path of imperial examination" and stepped onto the political stage of China as a "feudal official". After three dynasties of Jiaqing, Daoguang and Xianfeng, he was "a divination official for 40 years and served in 14 provinces".
