The desert flora covers an area of more than 10000 square meters, mainly composed of cactus and succulent plants, which are mainly produced in America and Africa. They have been paid more and more attention in the world, and have become a new kind of indoor potted plants. Aloe is widely cultivated for its medicinal value. Cactus plants, like orchids and cycads, are listed as key protected objects by cites. In order to collect and cultivate these plants, the garden has established three large-scale exhibition greenhouses and three production greenhouses since 1992, and introduced more than 1000 species or varieties, including more than 600 species in more than 40 genera of cactus family, more than 100 species in aloe family, and more than 300 species in nearly 20 families of other succulent plants. The more precious species are Jinhu with a diameter of more than 80 cm, giant column with a height of 6 meters and a 200 year old tree, as well as the mimicry plant Shihua, etc. In the future, we will continue to introduce more species from home and abroad, and strive to make the desert flora a base for research, science popularization, exhibition and production of cactus and succulent plants.
