The school of engineering and technology of Changjiang university is an independent college with full-time general undergraduate and junior college degree education, which is the only independent college in Hubei Province with the characteristics of petroleum main disciplines.

The college is located in Jingzhou, a famous historical and cultural city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. With beautiful campus environment, it is named as a garden school by Hubei provincial government. At the 11th China International Education Brand Innovation Summit, the school of engineering and technology of Yangtze University won the award of 2012 China's most independent college with brand value.

At present, there are nearly 9000 students in the college, including Department of petroleum resources, Department of machinery, Department of chemical engineering, Department of urban construction, Department of information, Department of management, Department of foreign languages, Department of basic teaching, Department of physical education, Department of Ideological and political theory, experimental training center, Institute of higher education, Institute of new petroleum technology, Institute of information technology, Institute of Applied Chemistry, etc . At present, there are 21 undergraduate majors and 11 specialized majors, all of which are advantageous majors of Yangtze University.

There are 71 laboratories, 79 practice bases and 435000 books in the library. There are 85 professors, 35 doctors and 457 full-time teachers in the college, of which 34.8% are teachers with senior titles, and full-time foreign teachers from the United States, Britain and other countries are employed. The college shares teachers, hardware facilities and other teaching resources with Changjiang University, which is an ideal place for students to study and pursue their studies.

The college has high quality of personnel training and good social reputation. In 2012, in the evaluation of bachelor's degree authorized units organized by the provincial academic degree office, the college has achieved the "three complete" results, which are all passed by 20 undergraduate majors, all passed without any limited conditions, and all passed by expert evaluation. In the past four years, the average agreement employment rate of college graduates has reached more than 90%. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, the admission rate of undergraduate graduates for postgraduate entrance examination was 7%, 8% and 13%.
