The predecessor of Guangdong Second Normal University was Guangdong Institute of education and administration founded in 1955. In 1960, it was renamed Guangdong Institute of education. In the same year, Guangdong Normal University of industry and agriculture was merged. It was closed in 1970, and its main body was transferred to Xinxing County in Zhaoqing area. Zhaoqing normal school and Zhaoqing normal college were established successively. It resumed in 1978 and was designated as a provincial Adult Normal University in 1982. In the same year, it began to hold adult normal undergraduate education, general junior college education in 1985, and general undergraduate education from 1990 to 2008. In 2010, with the approval of the Ministry of education, it was restructured into an ordinary undergraduate university and renamed as Guangdong Second Normal University. In 2014, he obtained the right to confer bachelor's degree. In 2017, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of education.
school is located in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, with Haizhu and Huadu campuses. There are 16 teaching faculties and departments, including the Institute of education, and 15 research institutions, including the basic education research center.
