Wuhan Institute of Physical Education

Wuhan Institute of physical education, formerly known as Zhongnan Institute of physical education, was founded in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province in 1953. It was moved to its current location in 1955 and changed to its current name in 1956. Wuhan Institute of physical education is one of the first batch of higher physical education institutions founded in New China. It was formerly a physical education institution directly under the State General Administration of Physical Education (National Sports Committee). In 2001, the school management system was reformed, and now it is a college jointly built by the state General Administration of physical education and Hubei Province.

Our campus is located in the beautiful East Lake of Wuhan City, covering an area of 835 mu, with a construction area of 330000 square meters. It has advanced and complete teaching, training, scientific research and living facilities, and has opened a campus network. In order to meet the needs of development, our school is preparing to build the second campus with a planning area of 1000 mu.

Our school has 822 teaching staff, including 405 teachers and coaches. Among the teachers and coaches, there are 58 full professors, 153 associate professors, 166 teachers with doctor's and master's degrees, and a group of experts, scholars and famous coaches with great influence at home and abroad.

There are five colleges, five departments, four departments and two schools in our school, namely, College of Sports Social Sciences, College of martial arts, College of competitive sports, College of adult education, College of sports science and Technology (Independent College), Department of sports, Department of sports, Department of sports arts, Department of sports human science and psychology, Department of sports information technology, Department of moral education, Department of foreign languages, Department of graduate students and Department of training Department, affiliated competitive sports schools, sports schools. There are 13 undergraduate majors and 7 Postgraduate majors, which are open to the whole country and recruit foreign students. In October 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China, our university became a unit that can carry out joint training of doctoral degree postgraduates. At present, there are more than 8600 full-time students, including 7466 undergraduates, 531 postgraduates and more than 3000 adult education students.

At present, our school has 5 key disciplines (projects) of the State General Administration of sports and 2 key disciplines of Hubei Province. He has undertaken research projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Social Science Foundation of China, and key scientific research projects at provincial and ministerial levels for many times, and has won a number of scientific and technological achievement awards and national patent inventions. In December 2001, our school was named "key research base of sports social science" by the State General Administration of sports. In July 2003, our school was designated as "Hubei Sports Industry Research Center" by Hubei Provincial Department of education. Journal of Wuhan Institute of Physical Education (Chinese Core Journal) and Journal of physical adult education sponsored by our university have great influence in China.

Our school has always regarded the quality of education and teaching as the lifeline, constantly updated educational ideas, strengthened the basic construction of teaching, promoted the reform of education and teaching, and improved the quality of education and teaching. In 2003, the Ministry of Education organized the evaluation of the undergraduate teaching level of 42 colleges and universities in China, and our university was rated as good.

Our school has outstanding competitive sports characteristics, and has formed a group of advantageous events represented by water sports and heavy sports. The students won 273 gold medals, 200 silver medals and 174 bronze medals in the Olympic Games, Asian Games and national games. The State General Administration of sports awarded our school "sports Contribution Award", and named our school as "China canoeing high level talent base", "National Youth Wushu Sanda training base", "National Wushu school talent training base" and "national high level sports reserve talent base".

Our school attaches great importance to foreign exchange and cooperation, and has established good cooperative relations with nearly 20 education and sports institutions in the United States, France, Germany, Japan, Ukraine, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other countries and regions, and has carried out extensive cooperation with nearly 30 provincial and municipal sports bureaus and industry sports associations.

At present, Wuhan Institute of physical education is actively responding to the call of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to speed up the development of sports. It is trying to build the university into a domestic first-class and internationally famous teaching and research-oriented Sports University with sports discipline as the main subject, obvious advantages of related disciplines, outstanding competitive characteristics and strong ability of scientific research and innovation.
