Henan University of science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as: haust) is one of the three key comprehensive universities in Henan Province, which is jointly built by Henan Provincial People's government and the State Administration of science, technology and industry for national defense, supported by the National Central and Western Universities' basic ability construction project, and excellent in undergraduate teaching evaluation by the Ministry of education. The school covers a total area of more than 4600 mu. There are four campuses, Kaiyuan, Xiyuan, Jinghua and Zhoushan. The new campus, Kaiyuan, covers an area of more than 3660 mu. The university enrolls students nationwide, with more than 39100 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students, and more than 22900 part-time adult education students. The school is located in Luoyang, the vice central city of Central Plains Economic Zone.

The predecessor of the school is Beijing tractor industry school, which was founded in 1952. In 1956, it moved to Luoyang to meet the needs of the national industrial base construction layout, and later renamed Luoyang Institute of technology, which is subordinate to the Ministry of mechanical industry. In 1998, it was transferred to Henan Province for management, and the central and local governments jointly built it. In 2002, in order to optimize the structure and layout of higher education in Henan Province, Henan provincial Party committee and government reported to the Ministry of education for approval, and Henan University of science and technology was established by the merger of Luoyang Institute of technology, Luoyang Medical College and Luoyang Agricultural College. The University covers 11 disciplines including science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, management, arts, law, history, teaching and art. There are 31 colleges and 93 undergraduate majors, of which 14 undergraduate majors and 5 Master's majors have been approved as "excellent engineer, excellent doctor, excellent agriculture and forestry talents and excellent legal talents training plan" by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. The modern library with the largest single building area of domestic colleges and universities has 3.64 million books and 180000 Chinese and foreign periodicals.
