Founded in June 2002, the College of science and technology of North China Electric Power University is an independent college with full-time undergraduate level approved by the Ministry of education and the people's Government of Hebei Province and jointly organized by North China Electric Power University and Hebei electric power company according to the new mechanism and mode. In 2004, it was assessed as a qualified school running unit by the expert group of the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. College of science and technology of North China Electric Power University is located in Baoding, an ancient historical and cultural city. Baoding city is located in the middle of Hebei Province, 125 kilometers from Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province in the south, 141 kilometers from Beijing in the north and 155 kilometers from Tianjin in the East. It is located in the middle of the "Beijing Tianjin Shijiazhuang triangle". It has a total area of more than 20000 square kilometers (312.3 square kilometers of urban area) and a population of more than 10 million (more than 800000 people in the urban area). It has jurisdiction over three districts, four county-level cities and 18 counties.

Relying on the comprehensive advantages of North China Electric Power University, the College of science and technology sets up a major according to the development trend of modern science and technology and the needs of local economic development. There are six departments, including Department of electric power engineering, Department of power engineering, Department of economic management, Department of Information Engineering, Department of mechanical engineering, Department of architectural engineering and Department of basic disciplines, and one department offers electrical engineering and automation, thermal energy and power engineering and architectural engineering Environmental and equipment engineering, art design, software engineering, English, civil engineering and other 24 undergraduate majors.

The Institute of science and technology enrolls students from 31 provinces (cities, autonomous regions) in China, with nearly 7000 students at present. After graduation, the students will be awarded the graduation certificate of the College of science and technology of North China Electric Power University issued by the state, and those who meet the conditions will be awarded the bachelor's degree certificate of the College of science and technology of North China Electric Power University.

The College of science and technology covers an area of about 500 mu, with beautiful campus environment, advanced infrastructure and complete teaching equipment. It has advanced English speech laboratory, electrical and electronic laboratory, physics laboratory, power system simulation laboratory, thermal power unit simulation laboratory and other teaching facilities, with a library collection of more than 349000 books. At the same time, the Institute of science and technology also shares the abundant teaching resources of North China Electric Power University.

The College of science and technology has a faculty with high professional quality, high educational level and reasonable structure. Relying on the high-quality teacher resources of North China Electric Power University, it learns from advanced teaching methods and concepts to attract famous teachers to teach in the college. At present, there are more than 500 full-time teachers in the college. More than 38% of the teachers have the title of associate professor or above, and more than 87% have the master's degree or above.

In the past five years, the college's own teachers have undertaken and participated in more than 80 kinds of scientific research projects, including one National Natural Science Foundation, two awards for scientific research achievements at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, more than 400 published papers, and 52 indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP.

Teachers and students of the Institute of science and technology have won more than 600 awards in the "foreign teachers' Club Cup" College English teaching competition, "Century Star" English speech competition, national mathematical modeling competition, American Mathematical modeling competition, national advertising art design competition, Challenge Cup and other competitions or activities over the years. The college's employment rate over the years has been maintained at more than 90%, ranking in the forefront of undergraduate colleges in the province. The quality of students' employment units is high, and the development prospect is broad, which has been fully recognized by the society. In recent years, the graduate enrollment rate of the college has remained at about 13%, and a considerable number of students have realized their dream of further study in high-level universities.
