Zhangzhou Normal University is a provincial full-time undergraduate college in Fujian Province. It is located in Zhangzhou, a famous historical and cultural city and an open city in Southern Fujian.

The predecessor of the school is Fujian Second Normal University, which was founded in 1963. It was closed in 1966 due to the cultural revolution and was abolished in 1970. Since 1977, with the great attention of Fujian provincial Party committee and provincial government, Zhangzhou municipal Party committee and municipal government, we have re selected the school site and rebuilt the campus. We have successively experienced the training classes for middle school teachers in Longxi area, the junior college classes in Longxi Normal University and Zhangzhou Normal College. In 1986, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, Fujian second normal university was re established and renamed Zhangzhou Normal University, forming a "one south one north" undergraduate teacher education pattern with Fujian Normal University. In 1992, he was authorized to confer bachelor's degree. In 2000, he successfully passed the first batch of undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of normal universities by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. In 2003, he was added as a master's degree conferring unit.

Since its resumption, the university has devoted itself to construction and development, and has carried out comprehensive construction in accordance with the requirements of the conditions for running a university. The existing campus covers an area of 1731 mu, with a total area of 510000 square meters, including 216500 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms, 124500 square meters of student dormitories, 99.07 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment, 29900 square meters of Library and reference room, 1.265 million paper books, 1.108 million electronic books and periodicals, and 917 seats in multimedia classroom and voice room There are 2301 computers for teaching, 75000 square meters of stadiums and gymnasiums, and the computing center, network and educational technology center are fully equipped with advanced functions, and the campus network covers the whole school.

The University adheres to undergraduate education as the main body, actively develops postgraduate education, moderately develops continuing education and higher vocational education, and now has 16 teaching units, 42 undergraduate majors and 12 master's programs. The university enrolls students from 15 provinces in China, with 17904 full-time undergraduates, 144 master's degree students and 3571 adult education students.

The school vigorously implements the strategy of strengthening the school with talents, adheres to the simultaneous development of "training, introduction and employment", constantly increases the construction of the teaching staff, and gradually establishes a teaching staff with sufficient quantity, increasingly reasonable structure and good development trend. The school adheres to the principle of quality, always takes teaching as the center, constantly deepens the reform of education and teaching, strengthens the teaching management, and steadily improves the quality of education and teaching. Taking the opportunity of the key project of Fujian Province's new century education reform project "Research on the theory and practice of talent training mode reform in Local Normal Universities" in 2001, the diversified talent training mode reform of "one-time diversion + relative major and minor system" has been fully implemented, which has promoted the reform of teaching management, personnel management, student management and logistics management, and achieved good results. Since 2000, the university has won two first prizes and two second prizes for teaching achievements of higher education in Fujian Province. In 2007, the project of undergraduate teaching quality and teaching reform was launched in an all-round way, focusing on the construction of characteristic specialties, excellent courses, practical teaching innovation, talent training mode reform and innovation experimental area, famous teacher award, teaching team construction and teaching quality assurance system construction. The University adheres to the discipline construction as the leader, actively carries out scientific research, strengthens scientific research cooperation and exchange, and constantly improves the level of scientific research. At present, there are 2 key laboratories, 1 humanities and social science base, 6 provincial key disciplines, 12 university level key disciplines, 12 university level key supporting disciplines and 13 university level supporting disciplines. The school has established 26 research institutes, including the Deng Xiaoping Theory Research Institute, the Fujian Taiwan Culture Research Institute, the Educational Science Research Institute, the Applied Psychology Research Institute, the Applied Technology Research Institute, and the Gerontology Research Institute. He published 2631 scientific research papers, including 134 indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP, 40 academic monographs and 55 teaching materials.
