Guizhou Medical University

Guizhou Medical University is located in Lincheng Guiyang, the summer capital of Southwest China. Its predecessor was the national Guiyang Medical College founded in 1938, which was one of the nine national medical colleges under the Ministry of education at that time. It was renamed Guiyang Medical College in 1950 and Guizhou Medical University in 2015. It is the only provincial key university in Guizhou Province with a complete talent training system of medical bachelor, master and doctor.

In March 1938, under the leadership of Dr. Li zongen, the first president, expert of tropical diseases and medical educator in China, Yang chongrui, Zhu zhanggeng, Tang Peisong, Jia Kui, Yang Jishi, Liu Weide, Hong Qian, Lin Shaowen, Hou Baozhang, Zhang Xiaoqian, Guo bingkuan, Wang Jiwu, Zhu Maogen, Li Ruilin, Li Yi, Wang Zhijun, etc., established the medical foundation of Southwest China for the urgent need of war A large number of pioneers of literature and medicine gathered in Guizhou. In the environment of a large number of rooms, the national Guiyang Medical College came into being, creating a precedent of higher medical education in Guizhou.

After more than 70 years of hard work, the school has two campuses, covering an area of more than 1800 mu, with more than 14000 full-time students and 1600 graduate students. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is more than 200 million yuan. The library has 1.21 million books and 4952gb digital books. It has 20 teaching units and 27 undergraduate majors, covering six disciplines of medicine, science, sociology, literature, engineering and management. There are more than 1400 in-service employees, including more than 250 with doctor's degree, more than 220 with senior professional title and more than 380 with deputy senior. There are 2 national outstanding professional and technical talents, 18 "migratory bird" high-level talents, 3 national first and second level experts, 4 middle-aged and young experts with outstanding contributions from the national health and Family Planning Commission, 4 candidates of the Ministry of education's new century excellent talents support plan, 3 members of the Ministry of education's professional teaching steering committee, 3 National Excellent Scientific and technological workers, and 3 National "May Day" talents ”There are 3 winners of labor medal, 2 national model teachers, 3 national excellent teachers, 6 core experts in Guizhou Province, 25 provincial experts, 14 second-class professors and 47 special subsidies from the State Council.

The university has 7 provincial key disciplines, 4 provincial characteristic key disciplines, 4 clinical key construction specialties of national health and Family Planning Commission, 1 post doctoral research mobile station, 1 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization point, 8 second-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 6 first-class discipline master degree authorization points, 46 second-class discipline master degree authorization points and 5 professional master degree authorization points. There are 11 national and ministerial level scientific research platforms, 23 provincial level scientific research and innovation teams at all levels. Among them, there is one National Engineering Technology Research Center (co construction), two national local joint engineering laboratories (Engineering Research Center), three key laboratories (centers) of the Ministry of education, three provincial key laboratories (centers and bases), and one national teaching demonstration center. It is a national pesticide registration toxicology test unit and a national drug clinical experiment institution.

In recent five years, it has won 33 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research achievements awards, including one second prize of national science and technology progress award, two first prizes and eight second prizes of Guizhou science and technology progress award. It has undertaken 1552 scientific research projects at all levels, including 131 national scientific research projects such as key projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Science and technology support plan, major special projects of Ministry of science and technology, international science and technology cooperation projects of Ministry of science and technology, and National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published 3490 academic papers, edited or participated in editing more than 90 national planning textbooks and 66 academic monographs.

The school gives full play to the advantages of medicine, teaching and research, and actively serves the society. In the field of endemic disease research, research and development of traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine, tissue engineering stem cell biomedical research, pathogenic biology research, and transformation of scientific research achievements, we have made outstanding achievements. It has established the largest medical service system in the province, including 7 directly affiliated hospitals, 8 non directly affiliated hospitals and 6 teaching hospitals. We have signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Guiyang City, cooperated with Xinbang group, Yibai pharmaceutical, weimen pharmaceutical and other enterprises, and a large number of scientific research achievements have been transformed and applied. Since its establishment, the university has trained more than 50000 graduates, including more than 4000 graduate students, and trained nearly 90000 grassroots professional and technical personnel for the whole province.

The University attaches great importance to foreign exchange and cooperation. It is the counterpart of Soochow University. It has established cooperative school running and scientific research relations with high-level universities and scientific research institutions in more than 30 countries and regions, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. It is the International Science and technology cooperation base of the Ministry of science and technology, and has established Sino US and Sino British joint laboratories. Since 2008, the school has co sponsored the medical education forum of ASEAN education week and the Sino US clinical translational medicine forum of China Association for science and technology. In 2013, the education of international students was launched.

In 2015, Guizhou Medical University was successfully renamed as Guizhou Medical University. The Key Laboratory of natural products chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Guizhou Province was successfully integrated to serve the "big health" strategy of Guizhou Province, and the comprehensive strength was further enhanced. School development has entered a new starting point and started a new journey.
