Xi'an Translation College was founded by Ding Zuyi, a pioneer of private education in China. The college is located at the foot of the beautiful Zhongnan Mountain in the southern suburb of Xi'an. Its predecessor is Xi'an Translation Training College, which was founded in 1987. In 2000, with the approval of Shaanxi Provincial People's government, Xi'an Vocational College of translation was established to implement full-time higher vocational education. In 2005, approved by the Ministry of education, it was upgraded to an undergraduate university and renamed Xi'an Translation College. In 2009, he obtained the right to confer bachelor's degree.

The college always adheres to the school running philosophy of "education first, moral education first, ability first, all-round development" and "running school based on teachers, teaching based on students"; it adheres to the school running idea of "quality based school, talents strong school, scientific research promoting school, characteristic prospering school"; it adheres to the public welfare school running principle of "not for profit, take it from learning, use it for learning"; it adheres to the principle of "noble education" ”Under the guidance of the school motto of "study, be a man, change and forge ahead", the applied talents training modes of "foreign language + major + modern skills" and "major + foreign language + modern skills" are implemented to cultivate applied senior professionals serving the needs of regional economic and social development.

The college consists of eight secondary colleges, namely, School of foreign languages, School of economics and management, School of Humanities and arts, School of engineering and technology, Yihua college, School of translation studies, School of international relations and School of network continuing education, as well as three teaching departments, including basic courses department, ideological and political theory teaching department and sports department. The college has 22 undergraduate majors and 20 junior college majors, covering five disciplines of literature, economics, management, engineering and art. At present, there are two pilot projects of comprehensive reform of provincial specialties, three characteristic specialties and one key supporting specialty.

The college has set up more than ten research institutions, including Shaanxi Zhongnan society, Translation Research Institute, calligraphy and painting art research institute, e-commerce operation research center and Shaanxi Tourism Culture Research Center. In the past three years, the college has set up 196 scientific research projects, including 36 provincial-level vertical scientific research projects; the college has undertaken 8 provincial-level educational reform projects and 109 college level educational reform projects; the faculty has published 1139 scientific research papers, 35 teaching materials, 6 monographs and 2 translations. Four second prizes of provincial and ministerial teaching achievement awards and three second prizes of excellent teaching materials were won. At present, there are 6 provincial excellent courses, 3 provincial talent training mode innovation experimental zones and 2 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers.

The college always adheres to the socialist school running direction, takes the spirit of western translation as the support, takes cultural education as the foundation, actively promotes the socialist core values, and strives to carry out the construction of campus culture. Relying on the Zhongnan society, the College held Zhongnan lecture hall, founded academic journals such as journal of Xi'an Translation College and Zhongnan culture research in Shaanxi, edited and published series of books such as western translation literature cluster and Zhongnan library. The college adheres to the Trinity education mode of "knowledge, ability and quality". It regularly holds spring and autumn poetry meetings, "humanity world" art performance, mid autumn evening party and new year's Day party. 50 student associations carry out colorful campus cultural activities, strengthen the construction of the second classroom, and comprehensively improve the comprehensive quality of students. By beautifying the campus environment, creating a humanistic atmosphere, promoting all kinds of subject competitions, strengthening personality cultivation and paramilitary management, a unique campus culture has been formed. In the past three years, students have won 423 awards from the state, provincial and municipal university students in science and technology, sports and sports competitions, etc.

The college adheres to open education and actively carries out inter school exchanges and cooperation. It has established a helping relationship with Northwestern University, Xi'an Communication College of PLA, Yan'an University and other provincial universities, and established exchanges and cooperation with more than a dozen foreign universities such as Fraser Valley University in Canada, University of San Jose in the United States, Fuzhou Institute of foreign languages in Japan. In recent years, 444 people have gone abroad to study for master's degree, and 18 teachers and students have successively gone to Eastern Europe and Australia to study as visiting scholars and national public schools. The college has organized teachers and students to participate in the International Youth Development Summit Forum for many times, and invited many experts and professors from home and abroad, such as Dr. Robert George karthus, the chief member of the European Parliament, to give a report to the college, so as to continuously strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation. The college has established a cooperative relationship with the local government of the United States, with more than 900 students going to the United States for internship.

The college's unique talent training mode, strict paramilitary management and good talent training quality are widely concerned by all walks of life and fully affirmed by leaders at all levels, and has won a good social reputation of "learning to translate in the west". Over the years, the employment rate of college graduates has been around 95%. Employers generally believe that our college graduates have "high foreign language level, strong comprehensive ability, full of professionalism and innovative consciousness", "can go down, can stay, abide by discipline, and are good at cooperation". Li Lanqing, Chen Zhili, Jiang Zhenghua, abulaiti abudurexiti, Li Jianguo, Zhao Zhengyong and other central and provincial leaders successively visited the college and highly praised the training mode, management mode, school running characteristics and talent training quality of the college. The college has won the titles of "civilized campus", "safe campus", "advanced grass-roots Party committee of colleges and universities" in Shaanxi Province, and "safety unit", "advanced unit" and "advanced unit of comprehensive management" in Xi'an city. In recent years' APEC future voice China District trials, four students from our college, Zheng Yue, Yang Xin, Ding Qianwen and bow Chen, have been qualified to attend the APEC summit with Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping, the highest leader of the state.
