Changsha University is an ordinary undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of education in May 2004 and upgraded from Changsha University (junior college). The school implements the system of co construction and co management by provinces and cities, with Changsha as the main management.

The school is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province, a famous historical and cultural city in Central China. It is located on the Bank of the beautiful Liuyang River, overlooking the towering Yuelu and the ancient Hongshan temple. The campus is a "garden style unit of Hunan Province" with beautiful scenery and beautiful lakes and mountains.

In the past three years, teachers have won three teaching achievement awards at or above the provincial level, and students have won 585 awards at or above the provincial level in various subject competitions and skill competitions, including 8 national first prizes and 21 second prizes. The school sports team participated in the college students' track and Field Championships, and won the first place in the total score of the whole province's college group for seven consecutive times.
