Taishan University is a full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of education in March 2002. It has been running higher education since 1958. Its history can be traced back to the official Normal School of Taian Prefecture founded in 1905. The campus is located in the south foot of Mount Tai, the world's first dual natural and cultural heritage and World Geopark. It is adjacent to the provincial tourist resort, Tianping lake. It has the first library named after the party and state leaders in China, Wanli library.
