Shijiazhuang Railway University, formerly known as the Railway Engineering College of the Chinese people's Liberation Army, was founded in 1950 and was a key military college at that time. In 1979, it was listed as a national key university. In 1984, it was transferred to the Ministry of Railways and renamed as Shijiazhuang Railway University. In 2000, it was transferred to Hebei Province to implement the joint construction of the central and local governments and became a key backbone University of Hebei Province. In March 2010, it was renamed as Shijiazhuang Railway University; In December 2013, it became a University jointly built by the State Administration of science, technology and industry for national defense and the people's Government of Hebei Province; in July 2015, it was approved as a University jointly built by the people's Government of Hebei Province, the State Railway Administration and the Ministry of education; in 2016, it was listed as a first-class university and a first-class discipline construction university supported by Hebei Province.
