Beijing Institute of finance is a private university established in the reform of education system and a pilot school of Higher Education Diploma examination. The college always takes cultivating talents with both ability and political integrity and meeting the needs of social and industrial development as its school running purpose, and adheres to the road of "survival based on quality and development based on Characteristics". After several years of efforts, the college has initially established a multi-disciplinary university with finance as the main body and arts and sciences as well. It provides opportunities for high school and secondary vocational school graduates to receive higher education. At present, the college has five departments of finance, law, accounting, computer and foreign languages, with majors of international finance, securities investment, financial accounting, information management, business English and law. In terms of specialty and curriculum setting, the college focuses on thick foundation, wide caliber, heavy operation, closely follows the pace of social and economic development, and seizes the opportunity to carry out high-speed education, which has a strong attraction for students who are eager to become talents. According to the teaching plan, students have completed all the courses and participated in the higher education diploma examination. Those who have passed the examination or obtained the college degree recognized by the state. For undergraduate courses, those who have passed the higher education self-study examination will be awarded the undergraduate diploma by the higher education self-study examination committee. In the undergraduate and junior college education system, those who have not passed part of the national unified examination but have completed all the courses specified by the college and passed the examination will be awarded the realism certificate of Beijing Institute of finance. Graduates are not guaranteed. Those who have obtained the realistic certificate of the school of finance can be recommended. In order to meet the needs of different levels of personnel, the college adopts various forms and levels to develop continuing education. It has successively held adult higher diploma education, training of high-level professionals in the financial industry, etc., forming the school running characteristics of both higher diploma education and adult continuing education. At present, there are more than 2000 students on campus, including 1200 full-time undergraduate and junior college students (including residential students), 600 Adult Higher Education (junior college and undergraduate), and 200 in-service postgraduate courses. The college has complete teaching and living facilities, standardized and sound management system, and a high level of teaching and management staff. In 1997, through the comprehensive evaluation of private colleges by Beijing Municipal Education Commission, it obtained the qualification of Pilot School of Higher Education Diploma examination, and was rated as "excellent school" in 1998. At the beginning of the new century, China is about to join the WTO, facing new opportunities and challenges.
