Shenyang University of technology is located in Shenyang, the modern central city of Northeast China. It is a multi-disciplinary teaching and research university with engineering as the main subject, covering eight disciplines, including engineering, science, economics, management, arts, law, philosophy and art. The University was founded in 1949 and renamed as Shenyang University of technology from Shenyang Institute of mechanical and electrical engineering in 1985. It was originally affiliated to the Ministry of mechanical industry of the people's Republic of China. Since 1998, it has been jointly built by the central and local governments and mainly managed by Liaoning Province.

The school is composed of four campuses: central campus, Xingshun campus, National University Science Park and Liaoyang campus in Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province. The central campus (main campus) is located in the national economic and Technological Development Zone of equipment manufacturing industry in Shenyang. The university has the right to confer bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctor's degree. Five first-class disciplines and 19 second-class disciplines have the right to confer doctoral degrees. The school has a strong faculty and many famous teachers. At present, there are 1351 teachers, including 3 academicians, 190 professors, 429 associate professors, 660 lecturers, 48 doctoral supervisors and 25 young and middle-aged subject leaders. Teachers with doctoral degrees account for 26% of the total number of teachers, and teachers with master's and doctoral degrees account for 77% of the total number of teachers. Since 1995, we have started to recruit foreign students. In 2001, we have started international cooperation with Bedford University, Griffith University and Benedict University at undergraduate and graduate levels. We have accumulated rich experience in running schools, and have formed a training scale of more than 1100 students. The MBA graduate students jointly trained with Benedict University have graduated eight times.
