Guizhou Police Vocational College is a full-time public security and judicial college jointly managed by Guizhou Provincial Public Security Department and education department, approved by Guizhou provincial Party committee and provincial people's government, and registered by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of public security. Its predecessor is the Administrative Cadre School of Guizhou Provincial People's government established in 1949 and the public security cadre school of Guizhou Provincial People's government established in 1950. In 1950, the Administrative Cadre School of Guizhou Provincial People's government was renamed Guiyang Branch of southwest people's revolutionary University. In 1954, Guiyang Branch of southwest people's revolutionary University merged with the public security cadre school of Guizhou Provincial People's government to become Guizhou administrative cadre school. From 1955 to 1957, Guizhou administrative cadre school was divided into Guizhou public security school and Guizhou political and legal cadre school. From 1957 to 1975, the two schools were merged and named Guizhou political and legal cadre school, Guizhou political and legal college and Guizhou political and legal cadre school. From 1975 to 1980, it was renamed Guizhou public security cadre school. From 1980 to 1985, the school was divided into Guizhou public security cadre school (at the same time, Guizhou people's police school) and Guizhou political and legal cadre school (at the same time, judicial secondary school). From 1985 to 2000, the two colleges were upgraded to Guizhou public security cadre college and Guizhou political and Legal Management Cadre College respectively. At the same time, the two colleges were rated as grade A (Grade A) schools in the evaluation of the running level of adult colleges and universities in Guizhou Province in 1997. In 2000, the two academies merged again and named Guizhou Police Vocational College.

Since its establishment, through the continuous exploration and hard work of the previous leading groups and teaching staff, the college has formed a multi-level and multi form school running pattern, It has jointly organized adult undergraduate education and postgraduate education with East China University of political science and law, Southwest University of political science and law, Central Radio and TV University, Southwest Normal University and other undergraduate colleges and universities. In 1985, with the approval of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, the college established the training center for judges, prosecutors, lawyers and notaries in Guizhou Province, and actively carried out the training for in-service cadres in the provincial procuratorial, legal, department and other departments.

The college has 498 in-service staff, including 354 full-time teachers, 22 full-time professors, 107 associate professors, 2 doctors, 56 masters, 6 doctors and 39 masters. The college has also employed 18 well-known experts and scholars inside and outside the province as part-time professors, and 64 professional backbones of the provincial public security and judicial departments as part-time instructors.

Since 1985, the faculty has published 394 monographs and teaching materials, published 2943 scientific research papers, won 71 provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects, most of which have been completed, won 140 provincial and ministerial level scientific research achievement awards, and won 5 national patents. 35 teachers have been employed as part-time teachers, master's tutors, experts, researchers or the president of the society by colleges, scientific research institutions and academic groups inside and outside the province. As a platform for teachers to carry out scientific research activities, the college journal has been rated as the national and provincial excellent journal of Social Sciences and the national press and Publication Administration's "CAJ-CD standard" implementation excellent journal. Its published papers have been repeatedly reprinted by national abstract journals and Beida Fayi net and other media. The teaching reform experience of the college was popularized as the only typical experience in the second national public security education conference in 1998.

At present, the college has some teaching departments, such as Department of criminal technology, Department of investigation, Department of public security, Department of police sports, Department of public security management, Department of law I, Department of law II, Department of foundation, Department of theory, computer center, experimental center, adult teaching department and driving training school. There are more than 20 professional (direction) courses in investigation, criminal technology, police dog technology, traffic management, public security management, economic crime investigation, law and so on. After years of building, it has formed a number of characteristic specialties and disciplines such as public security management, criminal law, special police, criminal technology, etc. In order to strengthen the practical link of teaching, the college has also established 26 teaching practice experimental bases throughout the province.

The college covers an area of 788 mu, with an area of 223175 square meters. The total assets of teaching and scientific research equipment are 22.57 million yuan. The library has 690000 books, including 260000 e-books. At present, the college has advanced indoor shooting hall, library, experimental building, multimedia classroom, voice room and campus network system. With the construction of simulation building, a modern public security and judicial college has begun to take shape.
