Nanning University (formerly Yongjiang University) is a state-owned private University jointly run by Nanning Municipal People's government and Guangxi District Committee of the democratic revolution. Founded in 1985, the University was selected as a pilot University of Applied Technology by the Ministry of education in 2013, and became a member of the National Alliance of non-profit private colleges and universities. It is a school approved by the Ministry of education to recruit undergraduates from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The school implements the principal responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors.

The school is located in Wuxiang New District of Nanning City, with a total area of 1296.28 Mu and a construction area of nearly 400000 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 100 million yuan, including 1.082 million paper books, 1130 Chinese and foreign periodicals, 602000 e-books and more than 10000 electronic professional periodicals. The construction of disciplines and specialties is closely related to the economic and social development needs of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, especially Nanning city. It is highly compatible with the strategic objectives of building Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone into an open and cooperative logistics base, trade base, processing and manufacturing base and information exchange center between China and ASEAN.
