Located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi Academy of art is one of the seven comprehensive undergraduate art colleges in China. In 2012, it became a University jointly built by the Ministry of culture of the people's Republic of China and the people's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The school was founded in 1938. Its predecessor was the "art teacher training class of Guangxi provincial capital national basic school" (hereinafter referred to as "art teacher class") initiated by the famous musician man QIANZI, modern outstanding painter and art educator Xu Beihong and the famous composer and music educator Wu Bochao in Guilin in 1938. In 1960, it changed its name to Guangxi Academy of art and was upgraded from a junior college to an undergraduate college. In more than 70 years of school running history, a group of well-known artists and art educators at home and abroad, such as man QIANZI, Xu Beihong, Wu Bochao, Yang Taiyang, Chen Yanqiao, Chen Liang, Huang Dufeng, Zhu Peijun, Lu Huabai, Li Zhishu, etc., have worked in the school for a long time. They teach and study, promote culture and encourage teaching, lay a good foundation for the development of the school and accumulate profound cultural heritage.

The school consists of the Academy of fine arts, the school of design, the school of Chinese painting, the school of music, the school of dance, the school of humanities, the school of film and television and media, the Department of ethnic arts, the school of architectural arts, the school of plastic arts, the Department of orchestra, the school of international education, the school of fine arts education, the school of music education, the vocational and technical college / the school of continuing education, the Lijiang School of painting, and the ideological and political theory course There are 19 teaching units including research department, teaching department of public courses and affiliated secondary art school, and one art research institute.

The school has four campuses, including Nanhu campus, Xiangsihu campus and West Campus in Nanning City, and Guilin campus in Guilin City, with a total area of 655.13 mu. At present, there are 6 first-class master's degree authorization points of art theory, music and dance, drama and film and television, fine arts, design and journalism, 38 second-class disciplines and 3 master's degree authorization points, 35 undergraduate majors, 43 undergraduate majors and 15 higher vocational colleges, forming a relatively complete higher art education system. The university enrolls students from all over the country, including 14900 full-time undergraduate, postgraduate and international students.

The school adheres to the fundamental task of personnel training, actively deepens the reform of education and teaching, and constantly improves the quality of education and teaching. It has successively obtained a number of teaching achievements, such as a number of national characteristic majors, national excellent courses, National Talent Training Mode Innovation Experimental Zone, national experimental teaching demonstration center, national teaching team, key disciplines, high-quality majors, excellent courses and key research bases of Humanities and Social Sciences in Universities of the Autonomous Region. In 2006, the University obtained the excellent grade in the undergraduate education and teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education. In 2008, it was approved by the Ministry of education to become a university with the qualification of recommending excellent fresh undergraduate graduates to study for master's degree without examination. In 2009, it was approved to become a professional degree training unit for master of Arts (MFA). In 2012, it was approved as a characteristic and advantageous University in Guangxi. The school vigorously strengthens the construction of talent team and improves the core competitiveness of the school. At present, it has more than 1000 teaching staff, including 831 full-time teachers, 93 senior positions and 183 deputy senior positions. The school focuses on improving the level of scientific research and artistic practice. In the past five years, the university has undertaken more than 30 scientific research projects at or above the provincial level, more than 300 other kinds of scientific research and creation projects, obtained 11 patents, published 3520 academic papers, including 441 papers published in Chinese core journals. In 2015, our university obtained 12 projects approved by the National Art Fund, ranking first among 53 universities in China; in 2016, our university obtained 22 projects approved by the National Art Fund, ranking first among 3611 applicants (including universities). Teachers and students have won more than 700 awards at home and abroad in the "Golden Bell Award", "Wenhua Award", "peacock Award", "peach and plum cup", as well as the national art exhibition, National College Students' art performance, National College Students' advertising art competition, China Campus Drama Festival, CCTV national TV Dance Competition and other professional performance competitions. The journal "art exploration" has been rated as "national excellent social science journal of colleges and universities". The Lijiang School of painting, with school art teachers as the main body, has developed into a cultural brand going to the world, making an important contribution to expanding the influence and popularity of Guangxi.

The school actively expands international educational exchanges and cooperation to promote the international development of education. It has carried out art exchange and education cooperation with 46 foreign institutions and art groups, including Julia Conservatory of music in the United States and Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Russia. In May 2012, the Ministry of foreign affairs and the Ministry of Education jointly set up the "China ASEAN art talent training center" in our school. The school has established cooperative and exchange relations with art colleges in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and other countries, and is committed to cultivating characteristic talents adapting to China ASEAN art exchange. The "China ASEAN Music Week", "China ASEAN architectural space design forum" and "China ASEAN Dance Forum and performance" organized by the school have become three influential international professional forums, among which "China ASEAN Music Week" has become one of the three major platforms for national "new music" creation. In the past five years, the number of overseas students in Sino foreign cooperative education has reached 93, and the number of exchange students in Taiwan in 2015 ranks first in the region.
