The total length is 70-180 cm. Head small, slightly larger than the neck, slightly oval. The snout is rounded. The tail is short and blunt. Small eyes, oval. The snout scale is wider than the height. The scales on the cheek are as good as those on the back. 2 nasal scales. There are 7-8 scales on the upper lip, and the third and fourth scales are in the eye. There are 1 anterior scales and 2 posterior scales. There are 1 anterior temporal scale, 2 posterior temporal scales, prominent parietal scale, pyramid shaped forehead scale and 1 / 2 nasal scale. The external nostril is large and located between the anterior and posterior nasal scales. Body scales 15 rows, smooth. The dorsal midline protrudes into a ridge, and its scales are extra large and hexagonal. There were 200-234 abdominal scales, 23-38 anal scales, and 23-38 infracaudal scales. The body surface is black, with 24-33 yellow rings of different sizes, and the abdomen is light.
They live in mountainous areas, often in wet areas or near water. It is nocturnal and preys on lizards, fish and other snakes; it has strong neurotoxicity. Distributed in Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Jiangxi and other places.

[chemical constituents] the venom of Bungarus multicinctus contains neurotoxin and cardiotoxin. This cardiotoxin has no hemolytic effect. The molecular weight and amino acid composition of neurotoxin are similar to those of cobra venom type I.
