Perennial herbs, 50-100 cm high. The rhizome is woody and stout. Stem oblate cylindrical, reddish brown. The leaflets are oblong ovate, apex acute, base broadly cuneate, margin coarsely serrate. Raceme terminal; tube shaped, 3-4 cm long, pink. Capsule slender angular or linear cylindrical, ca. 10 cm long, ca. 4 mm in diameter. The seeds have wings at both ends. It blooms in summer.
It grows in dry soil, hillside and grass. It is distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou and other places.
