Perennial herbs, 20-45 cm high. The whole plant is glabrous. Not branched or distally branched. Basal leaf ca. 3; leaf blade pentagonal, 2-3 cm long, 3.5-5 cm wide, base cordate, 3-lobed, central lobe broadly rhombic, 3-lobed, margin lobulate, lateral lobes obliquely fan-shaped, unequally 2-lobed; cauline leaf ca. 4, similar to basal leaf; long petiole. Flowers solitary at the top of stems or branches; sepals 5, white, obovate or elliptic, 9-10 mm long, 4-6 mm wide, apex rounded or obtuse; without petals; stamens numerous, 2.5-5 mm long; carpels 7-12, shortly stipitate. The capsule is dark brown, 0.9-1.4 cm long and 4.5 mm wide, with triangular protuberances below the middle of the dorsal suture.
It grows under mountain forest or in the shade of grass slope. It is distributed in Sichuan and Western Hubei.
