[plant morphology] Corydalis
Herbs glabrous annual with slender taproots. The stem is 10-30 cm high and often branched from the lower part. Leaves basal and cauline, petiolate; leaf blade triangular in outline, 3-9 cm long, 2-or 3-pinnately divided, 1-lobes 2-3 pairs, 2-or 3-lobes obovate in outline, unequally subpinnately divided, terminal lobes narrowly ovate, apex obtuse. Raceme 3-10 cm long; bracts ovate or narrowly ovate, entire or sparsely denticulate; sepals small; petals purple, upper petals 1.5-1.8 cm long, spur as long as 5 mm, end slightly downward curved. Capsule strip, ca. 3 cm long, ca. 1. 5 mm wide. Seeds black, oblate, densely punctate. The flowering period is from April to May.
It grows under the forest, at the edge of the ditch or at the place with many stones. It is distributed in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Henan and southern Shaanxi in the north, Shanxi, Gansu and other places.

[pharmacological action] 25% decoction had significant inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, followed by Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
[taste] bitter, cold and poisonous.

[clinical application] treatment of suppurative otitis media
Wash and mash the fresh heartbroken grass (whole grass) for juice. After cleaning the pus in the ear, the drug was dripped into the ear 3-4 times a day. 32 cases were observed, 8 cases were cured and 18 cases were markedly effective. Some patients were cured in 1-7 days. If the eustachian tube is unobstructed, it is better to use cotton ball to soak the medicine juice and put a little into the ear.
