(yinpianxinshen)

[synonym] Zhumu and Zhumu (the classic of Materia Medica) and mingzhumu (the annals of traditional Chinese Medicine).

[source] it is the nacreous layer of the shells of pearl oyster, Pinctada martensii, or mussels. For animal morphology, please refer to "Pearl" and "mussel meat".

[collection] all year round. Boil the shell in alkaline water, rinse, scrape off the outer black skin, and calcine until crisp. The products on the market are made from the waste clam shells left over from the self-made buttons.

[medicinal material] it is irregular flake with different sizes and thickness of about 5 mm. One side is light pink, with color luster, the other side is milky white, smooth, with luster; the surface has white powder. It is crisp and can be peeled off layer by layer. There is no breath, and the taste is light. It's better to be big, white, crisp but not broken.

It is mainly produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Anhui and other places.

[chemical composition] the shell of Hyriopsis raddei contains more than 90% calcium carbonate and about 0.34% organic matter, and a small amount of magnesium, iron, silicate, sulfate, phosphate and chloride. After calcination, carbonate decomposes to produce calcium oxide and organic matter is destroyed.

[pharmacological action] after the nacre powder of Pinctada martensii was given to rabbits, the concentration of calcium ion in blood was almost the same as that of calcium carbonate. Its 30% sulfuric acid hydrolysate contains amino acids such as leucine, methionine, alanine, glycine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid and so on. It has no effect on the ear vessel and blood pressure of rabbits, but it can increase the heartbeat amplitude of isolated toad, reduce the tension of isolated rabbit intestine, and has a short diuretic effect on rabbits. Nacre 4N hydrochloric acid extract can inhibit the contraction of histamine on isolated guinea pig small intestine. Its ether extract can inhibit the contraction of intestine caused by histamine and prevent shock and death of guinea pigs caused by histamine. Although it can not prevent anaphylactic shock of guinea pigs sensitized by horse serum, it has a tendency to inhibit the contraction of isolated intestine and uterus of guinea pigs.

Pearl shell powder can inhibit sarcoma-180 in mice.
