Perennial erect herbs, 50-70 cm high. Roots fusiform or cordate, dark brown. Stems angulate, with small or sparsely setae. Leaves alternate, ovate, long ovate or ovate elliptic, 8-13 cm long and 3-6 cm wide, apex short acuminate, base obtuse to rounded, margin crenate serrate. The upper part is dark green with short hairs, stings and small globular stalactites, the lower part is light green with few hairs, and the veins are reddish. There are short hairs and long stings on the main veins. Generally, 1-3 brown, fleshy and globular bulbils grow in the axils of the leaves. The petiole is 3-6cm long with small hairs and long stings. Flowers unisexual, monoecious; male inflorescence conical, sessile, axillary, horizontally spreading, 2-4cm long; male inflorescence with short flat peduncle, perianth 4-5cm, green white, lobes ovoid, stamens 4-5, opposite perianth lobes, ovary degenerated into cup-shaped, translucent; female inflorescence conical, terminal, long peduncle, 11-15cm long, branches flat, short hairs and long stings Female flowers with short pedicels, pedicels flat, slightly winged; sepals 4, pale green, abaxial 2, significantly enlarged after anthesis; pistil 1, initially erect, later oblique, style linear. Achene flat, nearly round, short stalked, pale yellow, style lateral, persistent. The flowering period is from July to August. The fruit period is from August to September.
It grows in hillside grassland, shady slope broad-leaved forest, coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest or forest edge wetland. Distributed in Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Henan, Guizhou and other places.
