[synonym] yangouzi (materia medica for daily use) and Ribes (compendium).

[plant morphology] Rubus, also known as' Er Ya ','er Ya','er Ya ','er Ya','er Ya ','er Ya','ri Hua Zi Ben Cao ', Ribes triqueter, Salicornia davidii, Ribes davidii, Ribes davidii, Ribes davidii and barley.

Deciduous shrubs. The stem is erect, 2-1 m tall, with hairs when young. Single leaf alternate, ovate to ovate lanceolate, 3-9 cm long and 2-5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base subcordate, margin irregularly serrate, sometimes 3-lobed, basal 3-veined, upper vein pilose, lower gray villus, midvein and petiole often with small uncinate spines; petiole about 5-20 mm long; stipules linear, adnate to petiole. Flowers solitary or several on branchlets, white, ca. 3 cm in diameter; sepals 5, hairy outside; petals 5, oblong; stamens numerous, separate; carpels numerous, separate. The aggregate fruit is bright red and juicy when ripe. The flowering period is from March to April. The fruit period is from May to June.

Born in sunny hillside, stream side, shrub. It is distributed in Hebei, Shaanxi and other provinces south of the Yangtze River Basin.

[collection] when the fruit is full and still green, pick it, remove the stems and leaves, soak it in boiling water for 1-2 minutes, and then dry it in the hot sun.

[herbal medicine] the dried fruits are cone-shaped or spherical in shape. They are aggregate fruits formed by many fleshy small drupes gathered on a cone-shaped receptacle, with gray green surface. The surface of drupe is slightly hairy. The upper part is blunt and round, the bottom is flat, with brown involucre, 5-lobed. Under the involucre, there is often a slender fruit stalk, crisp and easy to fall off. The small seeded fruit is easy to peel off and contains one seed with reticular grain on the surface. It tastes sweet and slightly sour. It's better to be big, plump, with neat grain, gray green color and no stem.
