Perennial climbing vines, 3-5 m long. Root hypertrophy, spindle shaped, skin purple red, tough. The stem is long and thin with furrow on the surface; the tendril is unbranched and curly. It's tough. Leaves alternate, palmately compound; leaflets 5, with short petiole, elliptic lanceolate, the largest one in the center, two smaller ones at the base, apex acuminate, wedge-shaped at the base, leaf margin with shallow wavy serrated, green on the top, gray on the bottom; flowers heterogeneous, corymb arranged into cymes; flowers small, yellow green. The berries are globose and fleshy.
It grows in mixed forest or steep wall on hillside. It is distributed in Yunnan and other places.
