[plant morphology] Acanthopanax tenuifolia
Perennial herbs, about 1 meter long, with filamentous sap when broken. Stem with fine stripes, nodes inflated, with fibrous roots below. Leaves opposite, elliptic, 7-11 cm long, 2.5-5.5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base obtuse or broadly cuneate, entire, veins sparsely short hairy on both sides; petiole 2-5 mm long, gradually shorter upward. Raceme terminal; bracts 2, triangular, ca. 2.5 mm, short hairy; bracteoles 2, narrowly triangular, ca. 2 mm; calyx 5-lobed, lobes linear or lanceolate, ca. 7 mm. Both sides are sparsely short hairy; corolla white, hairy, 2-lipped; upper lip 2-lobed, lower lip 3-lobed, ca. 2 cm long, above middle expanded, base contracted, inner surface purple halo; stamens 4, 2 long, 2 short, anthers blue purple, 2-locular; pistil 1, style linear, base hairy, stigma 2-lobed. Capsule oval, 4 seeds. The flowering period is from October to January next year.
It grows in wet forest and beside ditch.

Functions and indications: dispersing blood stasis, stopping bleeding, relieving pain and removing bone. Treatment of traumatic injuries, fractures.
