The shell is round, 10-19 mm high, 7-14 mm wide, thin and brittle, white and transparent when young, yellow and opaque when large; the spiral part is not protruding, the shell surface is smooth, with many fine ring and longitudinal lines; the mouth is wide, and the length is equal to the height of the shell. The body is soft, about 40mm long and 15mm wide, rectangular, not completely retracted into the shell; the color is grayish yellow or reddish yellow, and the skin is slightly transparent. There is a head plate at the front end, which is large and thick, in the shape of shoes. The front end is slightly concave, and the back end is slightly divided into two leaves. The eyes degenerate and are buried in the skin of the head plate. The mantle is undeveloped, covered by the shell, and then becomes a thick leaf blade, part of which turns to the back of the shell. The metatarsal surface of the foot is broad, the front is round, and the back end is slightly truncated, accounting for about 3 / 4 of the total length of the body.
They live on mud flats in shallow waters. Omnivorous, can swallow sediment, algae and a few invertebrate eggs. It is distributed along the coast of China, especially in the East China Sea.
