Herbs annual, all hirsute. The leaves are alternate, nearly round, 2-4 cm long and 5-6 cm wide, with 5-7 or 5-7 angular lobes of different depths on the edge, and the lobes are obtusely serrated; the petioles are 5-8 cm long with soft hairs. Flowers clustered in leaf axils, pedicel short, elongated after anthesis; bracteoles linear; calyx 5-lobed, lobes broadly triangular, apex pointed, densely hairy; petals 5-purplish red, slightly longer than calyx, base clawed, glabrous; stamens numerous, united into a cylinder, anthers inserted at the top. The fruit is oblate, 5-7 cm in diameter, the carpel is wrinkled, and the flowering period is from May to June.
