[source] it is the whole plant of Adiantum cinerea.
[plant morphology] Adiantum cinerea
Perennial herbs. Rhizome stout, woody, with dark brown thick scales at the top. The petiole is 12-25 cm long, thick, black and Aurora bright. The tip of petiole is divided into two sides by sharp angle. 3-6 pairs of pinnae are produced from the lateral branches on both sides. The pinnules are mostly labyrinthine and horizontally developed. The pinnules are blunt and sharp serrate. The leaves are gray white below and the veins are thin and obvious, reaching the top of each tooth. The sporangia are round or transverse in shape of kidney.
On limestone and in shade under trees. It is distributed in Southwest China, Gansu, Hubei, Hunan and other places.

It is mild in nature and bitter in taste.
Functions and indications: clearing heat and promoting diuresis. Treatment of burns, injuries, urinary incontinence, frostbite.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 1-2 Liang. External use: apply with vinegar.
