Tianxianteng

(Ben Cao Tu Jing)

[synonyms] dulingteng, sanliangyin (behind the elbow), doulingmiao (shenghuifang), Aristolochia (pujifang), qingmuxiangteng (preparation of Materia Medica), changshateng (Nanjing folk herbs), xiangteng (Zhejiang Manual of traditional Chinese Medicine), yulayangzi (smelly rice seedling) and yangchili (Jiangsu Zhi Yao Zhi).

[medicinal material] the dry stem is slender and twisted, yellowish brown or cyan brown, tough, with longitudinal grooves on the surface. The leaves are alternate, mostly shrunken and broken. The leaves are triangular, narrowly ovate, dark green, glabrous, heart-shaped at the base, auricular on both sides, with 3 obvious palmate veins, and slender and twisted petioles. In the cross section of the stem, the skin and the stele are often separated, and there are several Yellow Oval vascular bundles, the pith is white, and the center is fissured. It is fragrant and tasteless. Green stem and green leaves are the best.

It is mainly produced in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hebei, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, Henan and other places.

In addition to the above varieties, the stems and leaves of the same genus Aristolochia are also used as medicine in a few areas.
