Liana woody, sparsely reddish brown pilose. Stem slender, quadrangular, with 2 tendrils, opposite. Leaves opposite, ovate or heart-shaped, 5 cm long and 6 cm wide, apex divided, lobes apically rounded, entire, base heart-shaped, veins palmate, 7-9, petioles 3.5-4.5 cm long. Corymb terminal, 5-8 cm long, inflorescence axis covered with reddish brown pubescence; floret reddish brown, with purple veins, bracts and bracteoles linear, also covered with reddish brown pubescence, 5-7 mm long; petal 5, spatulate, both sides except margin, covered with reddish brown pubescence, margin ruffled, base cuneate, 1-1.5 cm long; stamen 10, only 3 stamens, filament about 1.5-2 cm long M, anther petal cleft; pistil single, ovary long columnar, county long petiole, glabrous, stigma capitate. The pods are zonal, flat, glabrous, with obvious reticular veins, 14-21 cm long and 4-5 cm wide, with several seeds. The flowering period is June. The fruiting period is August.
It grows in shrubs, forests and stone crevices on hillsides. It is distributed in Sichuan, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangdong and other places.
