[plant morphology] Ephedra Sinica
Subshrub perennial, 60-80 cm high, glabrous and glandular. The petioles are ovate, obovate lanceolate or oblong ovate, 0.7-2.5 cm long and 0.3-1 cm wide. The middle leaflet is larger, apex obtuse, base cuneate, entire or undulate. The petioles are short. Flowers bisexual, single leaf axils; pedicel slender; sepals 4-5-lobed, ovate to ovate lanceolate, about 1 mm long; petals 4-5, ovate oblong, yellow, 4-6 mm long; stamens 8-10, filaments of different lengths; ovary superior, 2-locular, style 1, apex lobed. Capsule, reniform, apically dehiscent. Seeds arm shaped. It blooms in spring.
Most of them are found in sand beach and hills. It is distributed in Hubei, Sichuan and Guangxi.
