Deciduous woody vines. The root epidermis is purple brown, the endodermis is light pink, sticky. Stem cylindrical, with lenticels, pith white, young branches covered with yellow villi, tendrils opposite leaves. Leaves alternate, broadly ovate, 3-5 palmately compound; leaflets all feathered or undivided, lanceolate or rhombic lanceolate, margin with large round obtuse serrate, glabrous, or slightly hairy on veins below young leaves: petioles shorter than leaves.
