Evergreen shrub, about 2 m high. Branches slender, smooth, glabrous. Leaves alternate; elliptic oblong, 5-8 cm long, 1.5-2 cm wide, entire, apex obtuse or mucronate, base subcuneate, dark green above, light green below, smooth and glabrous. The flowers are fragrant, white or light red, about 1.2 cm long, in capitate inflorescence, at the end of branches; bracts 6-10, lanceolate; calyx tube outer pilose, 4-lobed, about 8 mm long; no corolla; stamen 8; pistil 1, ovary smooth. The fruit is starchy, spherical and red. The flowering period is from March to May.

Fresh frozen flowers were collected, dried and powdered, and put into capsules, 0.4g each; potassium iodide was also put into capsules, 0.6g each. Method of administration: 2 xuelenghua capsules and 3 potassium iodide capsules are taken as one dose in three times.
