[plant morphology] Begonia, also known as: August spring, heartbroken flower (qunfangpu), acacia (Zhangzhou official records), heartbroken grass (daguanlu).
Herbs perennial, subterranean tuberous. Stem erect, smooth, ca. 60 cm high. The leaves are obliquely ovate, apex pointed, margin serrulate, base obliquely heart-shaped, with fine bristles on the top, purplish red on the bottom and petiole, with small bulbils in the axils and new seedlings on the ground. The pollen is red, monoecious; the male perianth is 4, the outer 2 pieces are round and large, the stamens are many, the filaments form a stalk, the anther is yellow; the female perianth is 5 or less, the inner one is smaller, the ovary is inferior, the style is 3-divergent, and the stigma is twisted. Capsule with unequal 3-wing, abaxial dehiscence. The flowering period is from August to September.
Most of them are planted in gardens. They are distributed all over the country.
