Chinese White Olive
[alias] olive, white olive and sweet olive.
[source] it is the fruit of Canarium album Raeusch.
[plant morphology] evergreen tree, 10-20m high. Pinnate compound leaves alternate; leaflets 9-15, opposite, leathery, oblong lanceolate, 6-19cm long, 3-8cm wide, apex caudate acuminate, with small pits on the lower reticular vein. Panicle terminal or axillary; flowers small, bisexual or heterozygous; calyx cup-shaped, 3-lobed; petals 3-5, white, fragrant; stamens 6, ovary superior, 3-locular, ovule 2 per locule. Drupe ovate, about 3cm long, greenish yellow. The flowering period is from April to May and the fruiting period is from August to October.
It is mainly cultivated in low altitude mixed forest. It is mainly produced in Fujian, Sichuan, Guangdong, Yunnan and Guangxi.

[character] the fruit is spindle shaped with blunt ends, 2.5-4cm in length and 1-1.5cm in diameter. The surface is brownish yellow or dark brown with irregular wrinkles.
