Plant morphology
Perennial herbs, 15-30 cm high. The rhizome is fleshy. Stem erect, tufted from base, hairy. The leaves are petiolate, the lower part of the stem is scaly, the middle and upper leaves are alternate, ovate, broadly ovate or triangular, broadly ovate, apex acuminate, base usually broadly cuneate, extending downward along the petiole, entire or slightly microwave shaped. Corymb terminal; calyx campanulate, lobes 5, short, elongated when bearing, covering capsule; corolla elongated, lobes 5, short, purple; stamens 5, inserted in the middle of corolla tube; pistil style silky. Capsule above the middle ring split, enclosed in the expanding persistent calyx. Seeds numerous, compressed.
Born on hillside, gully and grassland. Distributed in Tibet, Inner Mongolia and other places.
[collection] the whole grass was collected in summer and dried in the shade. In autumn, the roots were dug, the soil was removed, and the slices were dried in the sun.
[chemical constituents] the content of neoisorutin in the whole plant is about 2.5% and 0.76% of dry weight at flowering and fruiting stages. The root contains red coumarin. The content of alkaloids in roots, rhizomes, stems and leaves was 0.51%, 0.64%, 0.78% and 0.61% respectively at flowering stage, and then decreased gradually.
