[plant morphology] Alnus cremastogyne
Deciduous trees, up to 40 m tall. Bark smooth, gray; branchlets pubescent when young, glabrous at last, lenticellate. The leaf is obovate, long elliptic or elliptic, 6-15 cm long and 2.8-8 cm wide, with short apex and narrow base, irregular serrated margin, green above and light green below, 8-10 pairs of lateral veins, sparse hairs in vein axils; petiole is about 2 cm long, densely hairy. The flowers are monoecious and monoecious; catkins of both sexes are solitary between leaf axils; male inflorescences are elongated, with 3 flowers per bract; female inflorescences are spherical, with 2 flowers per bract; inflorescences are ovoid, pedicels of inflorescences are slender, 8 cm long; winged nuts are ovoid, with membranous wings.
