Willow leaves
(Cao Mu Bian Fang)

[chemical composition] it contains Salicylic acid, lactone, phenolic components and a large amount of ascorbic acid (1470 mg%).
Bitter, warm and poisonous.

[function indications] it is used to treat chronic tracheitis, joint pain, gangrene, furuncle, scabies, wind itching, dermatitis, eczema, and fire injury caused by soup.

[usage and dosage] external use: decocting and washing, alcohol dipping or tamping.
[selection] 1. Treatment of tinea: two liang of fresh willow leaves. Chop, 1 jin alcohol, soak the willow leaves in the wine for a week, then use. When using, take some cotton dipped in the wine and wipe the affected area once or twice a day. Or take the leaves to fry and wash. (Minnan folk herbal medicine)

[clinical application] ① treatment of chronic tracheitis
Take 0.5 Jin of fresh Maple poplar leaves, add 1 jin of water, boil for 15 minutes, discard the residue, continue to boil and concentrate to 200 ml, add sugar and seasoning. 100 ml daily, 3-4 times orally. Fresh leaves can also be made into injection containing 1g crude drug per ml for application. A total of 150 cases were treated, including 127 cases with Decoction, 14 cases with near control, 27 cases with marked effect, 60 cases with improvement and 26 cases with no effect; 23 cases with injection, 2 cases with near control, 3 cases with marked effect, 16 cases with improvement and 2 cases with no effect. The duration of treatment ranged from 8 to 30 days, with an average of 14 days. Preliminary observation showed that it had different degrees of effect in relieving cough, resolving phlegm, relieving asthma and anti inflammation, but the effect of resolving phlegm and relieving cough was more obvious. Side effects: diarrhea was the main cause, which was relieved or disappeared after 4-5 days. In addition, a small number of cases complained of dizziness, dry throat, stomach noisy heat, but were mild. There was no gastrointestinal reaction, but there were 2 cases of weakness and soreness in the limbs when the dosage reached 6 ml per day, which disappeared after withdrawal.
② Treatment of cellulitis, furuncle, etc
Wash 1 jin of fresh maple leaves, add 2 jin of water to boil, remove the residue, and concentrate the filtrate into 1 jin to 1 jin 2 liang. Soak with sterilized gauze and apply on the affected area. More than 300 cases of cellulitis, furuncle and other surgical suppurative diseases were treated with satisfactory results.
③ Treatment of paddy field dermatitis
Use half a jin of fresh Maple poplar leaves, wash the affected part with boiling water, and then mash the fresh thin lotus leaves for external application. Six patients with paddy field dermatitis and itchy skin were cured in 1-2 days.
④ Treatment of neurodermatitis
Knead the fresh maple leaves into a ball. When the juice is squeezed out, rub the diseased part for 5-10 minutes, once a day, 5 days as a course of treatment. 5 cases were cured after 2-3 courses of treatment. General wipe immediately after itching, and local red, a few days after desquamation.
⑤ Treatment of leprosy ulcer
The extract from the leaves of Pterocarya stenoptera was used as ointment and oil for external use. 9 cases were treated, all of them were effective. The course of treatment is short for 5 days and long for 5 months. For early ulcer, it began to take effect 48 hours after dressing; for late ulcer, 6-10 days after dressing, redness and swelling subsided, secretion decreased, and new granulation grew at the edge of the wound.
