Subshrub like herbs, up to 1 m tall. The stems and branches are thick and covered with short coarse hairs. The leaflets are oblong, ovate lanceolate or elliptic, 5-10 cm long and 2-4 cm wide, apex pointed, base rounded or microcardiform, glabrous above or slightly hairy at midvein, short hairy below; stipules needle like, ca. 2 mm long. Raceme terminal, flowers dense, up to 30 cm long; bracts lanceolate, base broad, edge long eyelashes, fall off, each bract has 2 flowers; calyx shallow cup-shaped, 5-toothed, upper 2-toothed short, lower 3-toothed, usually extended, all hairy; corolla purple, 7-8 mm long; stamens 10, 2-bodied; ovary superior, style linear. Pods 3-7 nodes, covered with very short hairs. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from July to October.

It grows on hillside, wasteland, shrub edge or weeds. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Yunnan and other places.
