[herbal medicine] the dry stem is cylindrical, with grayish brown surface, shallow longitudinal grooves and protruding leaf marks; the tender stem is smooth, with longitudinal cracks, obvious nodes, thin skin, easy to peel, bright yellow inner surface, with linear fibers. In the transverse section, the pith is light yellow, the wood is yellow, the lateral yellow is deep, and the rays are white, very significant.
