Morphology of Koelreuteria Paniculata

Deciduous trees, up to 20 meters high. Bark dark gray; branchlets gray, pubescent and lenticel dense. 2-pinnate compound leaves, opposite, thick papery, total rachis cylindric, densely silky gray pubescent; leaflets 9-15, long elliptic ovate, 4.5-7 cm long, 1.8-2.5 cm wide, apex short acuminate, base rounded, margin irregularly serrated, gray tomentose on main vein below; petioles short, 2-3 mm long. Panicle terminal, ca. 20 cm long; flowers yellow. Capsule ovate, ca. 4 cm long, 3 cm wide, apex rounded, pointed, 3-valved. Seeds round, black.

It grows in mountainous area and sparse forest. Distribution in Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Hunan, Zhejiang, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other places.

It is slightly bitter and pungent.
