Annual herbs, 10-30 cm high, glabrous. The taproot is thin and yellow white. Inflorescence terminal or axillary; flowers small, reddish brown, with short stalks; perianth 5, separate; stamens 3-5, alternate with perianth; ovary superior, 3-locular, style 3, short. Capsule cell dorsal dehiscence, many seeds, round kidney shaped, brown black, tumor like processes.
Born in wasteland, sand, and dams. It is distributed from the middle to the southwest of China.
