Annual herb, 15-40 cm high, glabrous. The roots are mostly bearded. Stem erect, or inclined, thin, 4-ribbed, nodes distinct, with fine roots near nodes. Leaf blade ovate, 4-15 mm long, entire; apex obtuse, leaf surface with fine transparent spots. Cyme terminal, forked and sparse, flowers small, yellow; sepals 5, lanceolate; petals 5, long elliptic, inner curved, several as long as sepals; stamens more than 10, base connected into 3 bundles; ovary 1-locular, style 3. Capsule oblong, ca. 4 mm long, surrounded by a persistent calyx of equal length. The flowering period is from May to June.
