[source] it is the fruit of Hippophae rhamnoides (elaeagaceae).
[plant morphology] Hippophae rhamnoides, also known as Hippophae rhamnoides and Hippophae rhamnoides.
Deciduous shrub or tree, 5-10m high. Branches densely covered with brown rust scales when young. Leaves alternate, linear or linear lanceolate, 2-6 cm long, 0.4-1.2 cm wide, obtuse at both ends, densely covered with pale white scales below; petiole very short. The inflorescence axis of male flower often falls off, stamens are 4; female flower is more open than male flower, perianth is simple saccate, apex is 2-lobed. Fruit fleshy, perianth tube surrounded, nearly spherical, orange yellow, 0.5-1 cm in diameter. The flowering period is from March to April. The fruit period is from September to October.
Born in the river, sand environment. It is distributed in North China, Northwest China, Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet.

[chemical constituents] the fruit contains isorhamnetin, isorhamnetin-3 - β - D-glucoside, isorhamnetin-3 - β - rutinoside, quercetin and kaempferol. The bark contains alkaloids such as serotonin and carotene. The leaves contain vitamin C_ 8 mg%, carotene, isorhamnetin. The content of hemin in fresh root nodules was 0.03 mg / g, which was about 5 times higher than that in other parts of roots.
