[herb] the dried bark is plate-shaped or curly, 1.5-2 mm thick. The outer surface is bluish gray or light grayish brown, with many wrinkles and shallow grooves, with irregular papillary spikes; the embolus is easy to fall off, exposing the light brownish yellow endothelium; the inner surface is yellowish white, or slightly brown, smooth, with fine longitudinal lines. It is tenacious, and its section is lobed. The taste is slightly bitter.

The volatile oil contains methyl nonylketone. β - sitosterol was also isolated from crude drugs.
