Dong women's costumes are various, or different styles, or different decorative parts, or different patterns and crafts, or different colors and hairstyles, headdresses. They usually wear casual clothes, stress practical, and pay attention to decorative aesthetics when they are in full dress. Simplicity and luxury complement each other. According to the characteristics of Dong women's clothing, it can be divided into three styles: tight skirt, loose skirt and trousers.

On November 11, 2014, Dong costumes were listed in the fourth batch of national intangible cultural heritage list with the approval of the State Council.

Clothing characteristics

The Dong people are also divided into the South and the north. The clothes of the South Dong people are very exquisite. Women are good at weaving and embroidery. Dong brocade, Dong cloth, cross stitch, embroidery and other handicrafts are very distinctive. Women wear collarless big lapels, with fine horsetail embroidery on the lapels and cuffs. The patterns are mainly dragon and Phoenix, with water cloud pattern and flower pattern. She was wearing a short pleated skirt and curly shoes. The bun is decorated with a ring hairpin, a silver hairpin or a silver crown of a dragon dancing Phoenix. It is also decorated with multi-layer silver collars, earrings, bracelets, waist pendants and other silver ornaments. Sanjiang Dong women wear long shirts and short skirts. Their long shirts are big collar and double breasted, with exquisite embroidery on the collar and cuffs. The double breasted is not fastened, and the middle is open, revealing an embroidered bib. They wear a blue pleated skirt, embroidered leg binding and flower shoes. They wear a bun on their head, and are decorated with flowers, combs, silver hairpins, etc. During the Spring Festival, women in luoxiang wear a blue collarless dress, a black skirt lined with lace, a sky blue Bib tied in front of their waist, a white ribbon and a red ribbon. The men's clothes are blue cloth with a head, a vertical collar, a cardigan, a belt, a button less jacket, trousers, leggings, straw sandals or barefoot, and embroidered at the skirt. The horsetail back fan of Dong nationality can be regarded as the first-class embroidery. Its ancient shape, exquisite embroidery, rigorous pattern and rich color fully show the wisdom and superb skills of Dong women.

Dress decoration

Headdress and silver ornament are the most exquisite ornaments for women in Pingqiu. They are good at keeping long hair. They tie their hair with red headbands and wrap black gauze handkerchiefs on their heads. They wear silver hairpins and combs on the back of their heads. They wear silver flowers and silver crowns on their heads and gold and silver rings on their ears. Two groups of silver clasps are arranged at the neckline, with two groups of diagonal clasps. They wear five collars of different sizes on their necks. They wear five silver chains and a silver lock on their chests to suppress evil spirits. They wear silver flower bracelets and four sided bracelets on their wrists. Craftsmen, such as silver dragon and Phoenix, carved flowers, grass and so on. This dress is simple and complicated, silver glittering and jingling.
